A flower of the azalea family that is popular as the city flower of Kirishima. It is characterized by smaller leaves than other azaleas. In Kirishima, flowers bloom from May to June, dyeing the colony and mountain surface reddish-purple. In the colony area of the Takachiho Peak Obachi slope, the contrast with the blue of the sky is particularly beautiful.
